About Aaron

I coach leaders the way I coached teams.

My Story

01

Coach

I was born in Baton Rouge and raised in Belle Chasse. I played two years of college football at Belhaven University, then finished my degree at LSU.

Then I spent 12 seasons coaching high school athletics. I was Special Teams Coordinator in football and head coach in bowling and soccer.

My last four years were at East Ascension. We won three straight district titles in bowling. I became the first bowling coach in Ascension Parish to take a team to the state championship. The next year, we went back.

Here's what nobody tells you about coaching.

“The trophies fade. What sticks is watching a kid become a young man you'd trust with anything.”

That was always the real job.

Coaching taught me that leadership is never just about the scoreboard. It's about setting a standard, earning trust, and holding yourself and your team accountable. It's about helping your team become the kind of friends, spouses, parents, leaders, and professionals that others can count on.

Those lessons stayed with me long after I left the sideline. The setting changed, but the passion did not.

Leader

After coaching, I ran my own hotshot trucking business across the Gulf South. I found out quickly what it means to own every part of a business.

Then I spent five years as Corporate Director of Admissions for Delta College. I led 20+ people at seven locations across Louisiana and Florida. We took conversion from 6% to 14%. That's a 133% jump.

That jump didn't come from a new script. It came from weekly one-on-ones, building systems where none existed, and launching the company's first professional development program. In other words, it came from coaching.

The Shift

That's when it clicked. I missed my favorite part of coaching: helping people become the leader they're capable of being.

I earned my Maxwell Leadership certification as a coach, trainer, and speaker, and I founded Coach Clark Leadership & Development.

Why? Because bad leadership doesn't just hurt results. It makes good people quit. I've seen it in athletics, business, and my work as a pastor. I'd rather fix it than watch it happen.

What I Believe

01

All leaders are learners.

The day you stop growing is the day your team stops following.

02

Leadership is influence, not position.

A title gets you a seat. It doesn't get you followers. I use John Maxwell's 5 Levels of Leadership as my guide because it shows leaders exactly where they stand and what the next step is.

03

Serve first.

The best leaders I've played for, coached with, and worked under all had one thing in common. They put their people first.

04

I don't motivate leaders. I train them.

Motivation wears off by Monday. Skills and systems don't.

05

Leadership starts where you live.

If it doesn't work at home, it won't work at work.

Off the Field

I married my high school sweetheart, Dawn, in 2006. We have two sons, Zachary and Levi. They're my first team and my toughest critics.

Of all the jobs and leadership roles I've had, husband and father are the very best ones.
